Position Description
The Air C2 Systems Engineer will provide Test & Evaluation (T&E) support for the Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) Support Services within the Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity (MCTSSA).
Essential Position Functions
- •Design and implement Tactical Data Link architectures (Link-16 Data and Voice, Joint Range Extension Application Protocol (JREAP) A/B/C, Satellite Link 16).
- •Troubleshoot, document, and brief test teams regarding technical issues identified in Aviation C2 systems, networks, and Tactical Data Links.
- •Operate and manage TDL and VMF input within air C2 systems during test events.
- •Configure and operate Link 16 and radar simulation tools, including Multi-Link System Test and Training Tool (MLST3) and Wrap Around Simulation Program (WASP).
- •Configure air C2 systems to communicate and exchange data with aviation assets such as Joint Strike Fighter (JSF), fire support systems (AFATDS), radar systems (Ground Air Task Oriented Radar, Composite Tracking Network (G/ATOR, CTN)), and sim/stim tools (such as MLST3 and WASP).
- •Conduct Link-16 joint interoperability and system of systems test events using air C2 systems.
- •Operate and employ filters of TDL management tools to exchange the air picture with air C2 systems.
- •Conduct testing events on Naval vessels both pier side and at-sea for a period not to exceed two weeks.
- •Conduct test Planning, Execution, Analysis, and Reporting (PEAR) for air C2 systems participating in integration and demonstration test events in shipboard and lab environments.
- •Develop test cases, test procedures, and functional checklists for air C2 system test events.
- •Conduct over-the-shoulder training on the installation, configuration, and operation of air C2 systems.
- •Initialize and configure the Common Aviation Command and Control System (CAC2S) for test and engineering events.
- •Perform software maintenance on the CAC2S.
- •Initialize and configure the CTN for test and engineering events.
- •Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (such as engineering, computer science, etc.).
- •Minimum of 12 years of experience in the design and implementation of TDL architectures.
- •CompTIA Network+ Certification preferred.
- •Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint.
- •Previous work experience with MCTSSA is a plus.
Competencies for the role
The Air C2 Systems Engineer demonstrates extensive expertise in Tactical Data Link architectures, Aviation C2 systems, and test and evaluation methodologies. This role requires strong analytical and communication skills, the ability to configure and operate complex air command and control systems, and proficiency in developing and executing structured test plans in both shipboard and laboratory environments.
Physical Requirements for the role
This position is primarily sedentary and requires the ability to work at a computer for extended periods, including viewing monitors, using keyboards, and operating standard office equipment. The role may require occasional standing, walking, and minimal lifting (up to 10 pounds).

Work Environment
The work environment for this position is primarily a professional office or remote setting with standard business conditions. The role involves regular use of computers and related technology in a low-noise environment and frequent collaboration with technical and non-technical team members. Work is generally performed during normal business hours with minimal physical risk, and the environment supports adherence to established cybersecurity, safety, and organizational policies.

Travel Requirements
Travel may be required to OCONUS (Hawaii and Japan) and the East Coast. East Coast travel forecast is approximately six (6) trips annually for five days per trip. OCONUS travel forecast is for three (3) trips annually, for 10 days per trip.
Compensation
Salary will be determined based on the individual’s education and experience level.
