Work Location
Remote. If Government requires on-site performance in the vicinity of Quantico, VA, travel will be reimbursed at the discretion of the Marine Corps.
Position Description
Provides support to in the execution of the Marine Corps Certification Program, and compliance with Marine Corps Order (MCO) P10120.28, individual Clothing Regulations. As a SME, the textile technologist will:
Essential Position Functions
- Conduct research leading to improvements in ballistic, flame resistant, and other fabrics of interest for military applications
- Support the development of product specifications and other technical documentation in support of textile technology programs
- Conduct fabric and textile component testing to support R&D and current textile-based acquisition program
- Utilize textile processing expertise to identify, track, or mitigate technical risks for military clothing and body armor acquisition programs
- Provide customer support and problem-solving expertise to textile and fabric users, manufacturers, and other USMC stakeholders.
- Support systems engineering efforts with a direct role in test planning and evaluation, requirements analysis, requirements verification, design verification, systems analysis, systems control and the development and delivery of associated systems engineering artifacts
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Lumbee Program Manager

The Textile Designer demonstrates advanced expertise in the execution of the Marine Corps Certification Program, Marine Corps Order (MCO) P10120.28, and Individual Clothing Regulations.
Physical Requirements for the role
This position is primarily sedentary and requires the ability to work at a computer for extended periods, including viewing monitors, using keyboards, and operating standard office equipment. The role may require occasional standing, walking, and minimal lifting (up to 10 pounds).

Work Environment
The work environment for this position is primarily remote and involves regular use of computers and related technology and frequent collaboration with technical and non-technical team members. Work is generally performed during normal business hours with minimal physical risk, and the environment supports adherence to established cybersecurity, safety, and organizational policies.
Security Clearance Requirements
Able to obtain a SECRET clearance
Travel Requirements
Travel is anticipated to be <10% within the Continental United States and <5% outside the Continental United States
Compensation
Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
