Position Description

The Facilities Maintenance Worker will assist with the maintenance and upkeep of Government property under the operational responsibility of Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC) in the area considered Hospital Point, Quantico, Va. The Facilities Maintenance Worker will be assigned to directly support the MCSC G-4, Facilities Lead. They will be responsible to assist in the operating and maintaining of Government owned equipment for daily operations as well as assisting with inventory and general maintenance and upkeep in efforts to maintain operational ready buildings and grounds. With the exception of landscaping and snow removal, all individual service calls or orders shall require less than 32 work-hours to perform. The Facilities Maintenance Worker is responsible to support the readiness and daily availability of the facilities, the support for planned events, provide support and availability of assigned equipment and vehicles, and the reporting of status. The Facilities Maintenance Worker is responsible to ensure the safe operations at all time of personnel, vehicles, and equipment.

 

Responsibilities

  •  Clear clogged drains and test for plumbing leaks.
  • Solve issues with environmental control units, including minor repairs on interrelated environmental control systems, composed of individual subsystems, i.e., air conditioners, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and electronic systems.
  • Routine repair of cubicle workstation partition frames.
  • Minor repairs of metal and wood floors, walls and ceilings using a variety of materials and fasteners such as wood, insulation, linoleum, epoxy, adhesive, rivets, bolts, inserts and sealant to secure and seal.
  • Cut grass, trim grass edges, trim trees and remove yard debris as a result of storm damage.
  • Remove snow and ice from walkways and roads/parking lots in all weather conditions to include the operation and use of front-end loaders, snow plows, snow blowers, snow shovels, and sand spreading trucks.
  • Comply with all applicable MCBQ Security, Safety, Fire, Hazardous Material, and Environmental policies and regulations with regards to MCSC G4/Facilities SOP.
  • Load and unload trucks to lift items weighing approximately 50 pounds.
  • Perform a two-man lift, to lift and transport up to a 100 pounds.
  • Operate generators, pumps, power washers, and assorted power tools.
  • Climb up and down a 30-foot extension ladder while carrying hand tools with the ability to transition and work on roofs.
  • Work on scaffolds or elevated platforms up to 50 feet high.
  • Work in cramped spaces above ground.
  • Stoop, bend, and kneel to manipulate tools in awkward positions.
  • Work indoors or outdoors under high allergen and dust conditions.
  • Remove dead animal carcasses from grassy areas, roadways, and interior spaces.
  • Capture and remove wildlife from MCSC spaces.
  • Clean up routine (non-toxic) biohazards and chemical spills such as human blood, waste, and vomit.
  • Support the execution of events for the PMOs and other organizations within G4/Facilities and MCSC to include:
  • Training events on vehicles and equipment, technology demonstrations and assessments, and general use of the G4/Facilities for meetings
  • Evaluate support requests for use of the G4/Facilities for safety issues and equipment requirements
  • Submit all G4/Facilities GME vehicles and equipment maintained as plant property to MCB Motor Transport Division for preventive and corrective maintenance, repairs, inspection and load testing certifications.
  • Maintain accurate accountability of all vehicles and equipment assigned to maintain and operate the G4/Facilities and provides updates as required to the Government G4/Facilities Manager for any noted discrepancies.
  • Dispatch all vehicles and equipment maintained at the G4/Facilities prior to departing the G4/Facilities intended for operating on and off MCB Quantico and ensure escort vehicles or assistant drivers (A-drivers) are assigned as required.
  • Maintain accountability of all dispatching records and trip tickets for all GME Vehicles and Military Material Handling Equipment, in compliance with MCB Quantico Policies and Marine Corps orders.
  • •Conduct annual PM and CM as required, in accordance with the G4/Facilities SOP, on the Government owned equipment which is used to maintain and operate in the G4/Facilities.

Education

  • 7-9 years of experience working in construction, general maintenance, and/or handyman.
  • Ability to lift items weighing approximately 50 pounds; perform a two-man lift up to a 100 pounds; Operate generators, pumps, power washers, and assorted power tools; climb a 30-foot extension ladder while carrying hand tools with the ability to transition; work on scaffolds or elevated platforms up to 50 feet high; work in cramped spaces above ground; stoop, bend, and kneel to manipulate tools in awkward positions; work indoors or outdoors under high allergen and dust conditions.
  • Possess or are able to obtain a valid OF-346 U.S Government Motor Vehicle and Equipment Operators Identification Card.
  • Complete all required training provided by the Government to include:
    • Automatic Emergency Defibrillator (AED)
    • First responder and First Aid
    • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
    • Natural Resources Environmental Affairs Annual Storm Water
    • Dispatching
    • Hazmat compatibility, storage and accumulations
    • Information Awareness
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and SharePoint
